NILS TIMM
Working as a filmmaker and photographer for over a decade led Nils to various experimentations with light . "The Fabric of Light" is an amalgam of his experience; an expanding, diverse project that blends photography with painting, sculpture and science. Applying various techniques from drip painting, long exposure and dispersion, Nils explores the aesthetic and sensory qualities of light itself.
WET LIGHT
This series draws from action painting and chiaroscuro. Colored light and water are painted onto large glass plates and captured via long, multiple exposures. The resulting images can evoke abstract expressions of energy, creation and sensuality.

PHOTONICS
Taking cues from the science of photonics, this series uses optical methods to harness light as a sculptural element. The process is a circle of inspiration, interaction and discovery. Working in total darkness, Nils hand shapes clusters of dispersed light into abstract forms that exist only for a short moment and cannot be reproduced. The resulting captures are essentially made from a spark of light.

RADIANT FLUX
This series started as a commission for album artwork about soundwaves. It draws from traditional light painting and aims to imbue a sense of timeless, haunting flow. Created by using different luminous materials and multiple long exposures, these images speak to all things invisible to the naked eye.
